Midweek food crawl brought us to Antipolo! Tucked away inside a village, under a burrow, is Burrow Cafe.
Right after the village gate, it’s a long and winding road going to the location. It’s another long way down to the burrow.
It’s funny how they lived up to their name. We almost didn’t know that this is the right way. Another flight of stairs to go down the burrow.
Once you enter that big wooden door, all you could see is the lush greenery outside the cafe. They installed large window glass panels. Imagine yourself in the middle of the forest.
Wooden tables, brick walls, vintage chairs, drop lights, and more greens. So easy on the eyes.
The waiting area is the bomb! 4 colorful hammocks adorn this area and you could enjoy it while waiting for your table or after your meal.
The hammock is so relaxing my kids wanted the same in their rooms!
Let’s get to the food! Everything is plated but you definitely should share. The serving is big and one couldn’t finish a plated dish all by himself.
Flatbread with Assorted Dips
The toasted Flatbread’s crunchy, the dips vary.
Beef Stroganoff Pappardelle
This one’s huge. It’s good but you’ll get sated if this will be the only thing you’ll eat. Your tastebuds will look for something else.
Chicken Fingers
Though it’s off the kids meals, the chicken fingers may be a little bland for the kids. One good thing is that it’s real chicken and not just breading and crumbs.
Beef Short Ribs with Corn and Green Bean Risotto
The risotto almost tasted like Mac and Cheese, in a good way! The corn and green beans complement the rice. The beef short ribs is good as well!
Salmon, Patani & Bacon and Eggplant
The salmon’s fresh! It matters!
Lechon and Gising Gising Rice Bowl
A big check for me! The gising gising’s tasty. The lechon (kawali) is crunchy and the meat’s very tender.
14 day Corned Beef Brisket
Not your usual corned beef! The meat’s also juicy and tender.
I love the hashed browns! Crispy on the edges too!
Chori Sliders
Cute little sunny side up eggs on top of these sliders. The patty is on the fatty side though.
Nutella Pancakes
Solid pancakes with Nutella spread on top. It is served with 2 half sliced bananas.
Outside the cafe is a flight of stairs leading down to an actual river with super clear water. You can stay here if you want to have time with nature.
There’s also a house to see but a couple booked it for a prenuptial photoshoot so we didn’t get the chance to see it.
I checked the website, Antipolo Beehouse, and this is their story. The builder, Vitty Gutierrez, wanted to showcase a house that is built with nature on mind.
The house has 2 floors, and the builder now lives on the lower level while the upper level is now ideal for photoshoot as it has an open space with nature surrounding it.
Photos from Antipolo Beehouse website.
Good thing the weather is nice when we visited. This nature trip is a must. This is your chance to get away from the stressful city, see some greenery to calm your minds.
Be ready with your cash as the cafe doesn’t accept cards and the prices are on the expensive side.
